Where has the time gone? Summer is half over and I have had time to get only one race weekend in. With that in mind, it is never to early to think about running for the board. I would suggest that you attend a few board meetings to see what it is all about, at least that way you have some idea of what to expect. Please keep in mind that there is a by-law change up for a vote, and if it passes, the time you will be committing to the board will

be three years instead of two, plus the number of board members will be increased by one for a total of nine.

The change will bring back the needed continuity of the board as in years past. The by-laws currently call for half of the board up for election every year. The problem with that is it takes a year on the board just to figure out how things work. Speaking from personal experience, it would have been good for me to be on the board more then one year before becoming RE: I think that I would have been able to do a better job for the club if I had more experience. Don’t get me wrong, the current dedicated board members are doing a good job and

have helped the club move in a positive direction, but if everyone had more time on the board and with an additional board member it would help things run smoother

The other thing that we are still in need of is some new Chiefs of Specialties. Two that come to mind are Registration and Starters. After many years Kathy Goettsch has been the chief of registration, and she informed the board that this would be her last year. Dale Krog the current chief of starters is also in his last year. The Board does thank them for their years of service and with luck and some new volunteers it will make the transition a lot smoother.
