Volume 100, Number 2
February 2000
So here it is January 12, 2000. Into the new millennium. I had put off writing the RE report because according to "experts" the world was going to end or at least be in complete mayhem and this would be the least of my worries. At least I did not quit my job and sell everything and buy more than a truckload of canned goods and dehydrated water.
As I am writing this I had an opportunity to talk to someone that has been involved in motor racing on a professional level, and I was reminded of the long and memorable history that LOL region has had and the lives that is has impacted. I do hope that the years that follow can be responsible for making new and memorable history.
As far as club business, the Board is working hard on getting ready for the 2000 season and we also are looking for your suggestions for entertainment for upcoming membership meetings, and would like to know what would make you attend. (I might just give away some of that dehydrated water). Again, we are also looking for feedback from road racing drivers on what you would like the weekend race schedules to look like, or what makes you pick one event over another.
WHAT IS THE COMP BOARD?
The question has been asked, "What is the LOL Comp Board and what does it do?" The regional Competition (Comp) Board is a committee that answers directly to and is directed by the LOL Board of Directors (BoD).
The Comp Board is made up of a chairman, appointed annually by the Board of Directors. Currently, the chairman is Alan Murray. Alan, as Chair, then recruits and/or accepts the rest of the members. The
official members of the Comp Board are the Rally, RallyCross and Solo II Chairs or their representatives, the Race Chairs, the chief instructor of the Drivers' School, a representative from Vintage and the driver mentoring rep. These people serve and represent LOL competitors as the Comp Board. The Comp Board meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. The
