Several people are busy attempting to arrange the LOL Championship Series Schedule for 2001. Rick Albrechtson of SCCLAC has contacted me with tentative dates of May 20, August 5, and September 16, all at LaCrosse Motor Speedway in West Salem WI. Harvey West at Basso Pesto has contacted me about an event, hopefully a two day, in Fairmont or Owatonna. I have not heard from the South Dakota contingent or from anyone in the metro area to hold events. Event Masters please get ahold of me with dates and sites. I do not feel I can be coordinator and event master; I will work as Safety Steward for events.
In the Twin Cities area the DCTC saga rolls on. To date there is no resolution and no SOLO events are planned by any club at DCTC. This being the situation, alternative sites are being looked at, including Raceway Park in Shakopee and Elko Speedway south of the cities. Right now anyone who can get a site and date gets the date accepted by Met Council. So he/she
who gets there first gets the date.
The 2001 CenDiv Solo II Championship Series TENTATIVE dates and places are; May 5/6 Peru, IN; Jun 2/3 Peru, IN; Jun 16/17 Rantoul-Chanute AFB, IL; Jul 8 Grand Blanc, MI; Jul 14/15 Milwaukee, WI; Sep 2 Perrysburg, OH; Oct 13/14 (or 6/7) Lexington, KY. National Tour Jun 30/Jul 1, and Divisional Championships Aug 11/12 will be at Grissiom AFB, Peru, IN. Watch SportsCar for final schedule.
That last line brings up a point. Let's get all of our schedules finalized and the sanctions all in at the same time and early. Then we can get them listed in SportsCar and may get more participants. I know when I was starting out a few years ago that is where I went for information. Even if we only get a few new competitors this way, every little bit helps.
Last but not least, I am looking for a series points keeper and for another person to go to Comp Board and Met Council with me. At times my job takes me away, plus two heads are usually better than one. Volunteers step forward and contact me at DickinsonRacing@aol.com or 651.688.7627.
