The 2000 Solo II season has started with some very strong interest in LOL’s Solo II program. Our opening event in LaCrosse on May 21st had 49 competitors. This was followed by a huge event co-sanctioned with MAC on June 3rd which had 149 competitors! A record for LOL and MAC participation! A wrap up of these events follows. Before that, though, I have to thank the great folks at MAC for making our first co-sanction event such a great success. The folks at MAC know how to run large events, and their skills were certainly evident at this event.

I would also like to remind you of the upcoming event on July 30th in LaCrosse. The Sports Car Club of LaCrosse (SCCLac) is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and we would like to show our support for their club by giving them a big turnout for this special event. The

wfrom the local technical college to use their facilities again, but sometime, somewhere along the line, somebody changed their mind. Efforts to find an alternate event have not been very successful, so at this time the LOL series will have 9 events this year.

From a rules standpoint, this means that only 5 events will be required to qualify for a year-end award, and 6 of your best events will count toward the award.

Next month I’ll have the results from the Fairmont double event (June 17th and 18th...already done by the time you read this!). Until then...keep racing hard!

Tom.

The second event of the season was co-sanctioned with MAC and had an incredible turnout of 149 competitors in 29 classes! The rain held off until the runs were over...at about 6PM. The winners included: Christopher Baye in AS Pro; Jim Cassi in F125; Peter Jarosch in BM; Bill Berard in AP; Kim Krumb in BP; Andrew Moxom in CP; Dan Moulin in EP; Bill Berard in ASP; Chris Holter in CSP; Chris Mosley in DSP; Keith Beumer in FSP; Steve DeRoche in FS; Tom Fisk in CS; Randy Williams in DS; Eric Hartwig in GS; Pete Glasspoole in HS; Dick Beers in ASPT; Kyle Knoff in DSPT; Brian Bornhorst in ESPT; Steven Vann in FSPT; David Jensen in FST; Dean Podevels in AST; Ron Johnson in DST; John Lyon in EST; Robert Fogt in GST; Philip Sundberg in HST; John McCullough in X; Enrique Ramirez in SI.

SCCLac has been a strong supporter of the Land O’Lakes region and we should all show our appreciation to them by going to this event. If you road racers aren’t doing anything that weekend, why don’t you show up and play for a day with some great autocross competition?

Finally, it appears that we will have to scratch the double event that was going to take place at Rochester this year. When I was setting up this event, I received a good commitment
