IS THERE HOPE? At the Quad region drivers’ school/regional (Blackhawk Valley, Chicago, Milwaukee and Land ‘O’ Lakes Regions) I saw great cooperation between all the regions to make this event come off. Not only were entries good, the worker turn out was GREAT, all regions including ours were well represented. If we can harness that momentum we should have a good year.

The Board of Directors is already thinking about what problems we will have next year with filling key positions. There are people that we have coerced into volunteering for one more year. For some of these people this is the third or fourth year where they have expressed their wish to move on or try some thing new, yet they continue to put their time in for the good of your club until they get "burned out".

We occasionally get some new people involved because they see a need in a particular area, but after getting more involved they get to see all the other areas that the club needs help with. These new people also get to see what is really required to put on an event, be it Rally, Rally Cross, Solo II or Club Racing. These events all take time and help from many people. These newly involved members soon become overwhelmed from all the tasks that they take on. Some of the stuff they take on is a "job" for several people, but because of lack of support or help they end up doing all the work themselves, thus giving your club more time and responsibility then they ever intended. Because of that, we risk that they will just give up or get so dismayed that they not only quit volunteering, we lose them as LOL members. From my time on the board it seems to be the same people doing most of the work.

CORRECTION
The correct date for LOL's late Sept. race at CBIR is Sept. 29-30, 2001.

You know who you are, you are the same people that I see at the membership meetings, you are the ones I call on, or that other members of the board call on when the club has specific needs.
