CONGRATULATIONS TO LOL!
News from the National Convention in Denver
The hardworking efforts of Lois Bjelke and Lynn Anderson paid off. In the regional newsletter competition, The Tonneau was awarded third-place in the large region category. Further kudos came to them when the RE of New England Region accepted an achievement award. He announced that one of their many achievements, a newsletter issue aimed directly at new members, was stolen from Land O'Lakes Region "which should get credit for thinking of this." LOL has been publishing an issue like this for years, but evidently we have not been tooting our own horn enough. Congratulations to Lois and Lynn. They certainly deserve it!
Once again, John Emmons and Oktoberally took the Arthur J. Gervais award for Outstanding National Course Rally in 1999.
This is the sixth time in ten years that LOL has won this trophy for the Oktoberally event. Congratulations John! Nobody else even comes close.
And, if that weren't enough...
Beryl Ann Burton found herself winding her way through the tables to accept the annual award for the National ProRally of the Year for our Ojibwe Forests event. The committee that put on Ojibwe Forests did an exceptional job. If you didn't go to this rally, you missed a really good time. Congratulations and thanks to the committee for all your hard work!
Beryl Ann also took part in an Event Organizers Leadership Seminar, giving a talk on how to host a RallyCross. Other participants spoke on how to organize a Solo event, Race and Road Rally series. Bruce Weinman spoke in a separate seminar on how to start holding a ClubRally for regions with no experience in those events.
I had the opportunity to tour the national office and SCCA Enterprises

Motorsports Safety School Returns
Please hold Saturday, April 15, 2000 open so that you can attend the new and improved "Motorsports Safety School". It will be held at Anoka Technical College. Offerings will include CPR, fire suppression, and other necessary skills for anyone who is involved in motorsports. The finalized schedule of events will be published in the April Tonneau.
Thank you, Alan Murray, for all those evenings you stayed late at work so we could hold our Board meetings in your repair garage. We appreciate you going out of your way so LOL could have our Board meetings in a rent-free location that was big enough to hold everyone. Good luck with your move!
