Vintage Perspective

by Jeff Ingebritson
President VSCR

VSCR had an excellent winter dinner party at Jax Cafe on February 9. Our featured speaker, who was scheduled to drive in from Sheboygan, cancelled at the last minute due to bad roads so we had to wing it. All of the members present got behind the back up program to share "scariest moments behind the wheel", and we had a great time. The food was great and the mood upbeat, so our season is officially under way.
Next on our agenda is some go kart racing at ProKart in Savage. This is the indoor go kart track that most local racers are now familiar with. My son, Jake, works there, and will be our event master.

March 31 we will head down to Cottrell’s engine shop for a tour of the shop and a tech session. April 23 VSCR will host the annual swap meet at Marc Brandow’s Quality Coaches. This is a traditional event that the club has staged for quite a few years. Marc is a great host, and it is the final kick-off before we get the cars ready for track time.

VSCR has at least a couple of new members that are interested in attending the SCCA drivers school at

vertline2.gif (216 bytes) Blackhawk, so we are hoping a vintage drivers school can be included in that event.

VSCR’s first real track time will be a test and tune session May 12 at the St. Cloud drivers training center across from the prison. Bill Groshen organizes these events, which are open to all cars, but you must join VSCR to participate. The entry fee is $40, and VSCR membership is $30 if you need that. We have scheduled six of these events, each one being held the Saturday before the major vintage race events in the Midwest.

The first vintage race event that VSCR will actually get behind and support is the VSCDA vintage race at Blackhawk. Our club will set up the club tent, ask for paddock space that can be dedicated for VSCR members so they can paddock together if they so choose, and VSCR will also provide some post checkered flag schmoozing. VSCR is planning similar programs for the August Midwest Council event at RA, and the Fall Festival at RA at the end of September. We will be at CBIR in full force for the LOL Labor Day race weekend. Stop by the barn and say hi.

We plan to have some fun this summer, and hope you do too. So keep smilin’ and keep the faith........

Jeff Ingebrigtson
