Once again the pace of the winter activities has caught me off guard. I have it firmly affixed in my mind that we take the winter months off...
- Despite a rocky beginning, the Ice Race season had some great events in LaCrosse, Winona and Eau Claire (not SCCA sanctioned, but a lot of familiar faces).
- Bruce and I just came back from stewarding Sno*Drift, an outstanding PRO Rally in Michigan put on by Detroit Region...
- And the Autoshow is less than 2 weeks away... Seven of our loveliest cars on display for 10 days, with 50 of our heartiest members talking, sharing and recruiting in one of the largest Manufacturers Car Shows in the country.
And the planning for '97 continues...
- By the time you read this the Grand Prix of Minnesota will have announced its title sponsor and schedule of events. Watch The Tonneau next month for full releases and updates...
- The Vintage group is planning a "test day" at Canterbury Downs in April.
- The April Fooler, a TSD ???? fun ???? rally is scheduled for April 6th.
- Plans are well underway for the Headwaters PRO Rally event May 10th...
- The Solo II calendar is coming together, with the LOL Garage Sale/Swap Meet attached to the June date at Canterbury Downs.
And for racing; contracts have been signed with BIR for:
- Our Jerry Knapp Memorial Day Classic... a driver's school, double regional... with an Advanced Drivers school included... a new concept, and I think a great idea, look for details in the next issue...
- The Labor Day weekend Regional/National/IT enduro, The Jack Pine Sprints.
The Boards of LOL and BVR have agreed in principal to co-sponsor a DOUBLE REGIONAL EVENT AT BLACK HAWK FARMS ON AUGUST 9-10... details have yet to be worked out but combining the traditions of our two regions.... this ought to be one heck of an event... more as it is available, but put it on your calendar NOW!
