Volume 100, Number 5
May 2000
It's that time of year again. Time to change the clocks, dust off the race car and get over the fact that this supposed global warming screwed up any chance of me getting the driving fix that I needed over the winter. All that I can say is "I want to go racing!" Speed Vision just makes the problem worse. If for some reason you don’t race and are one of the dedicated workers, or get your driving fix in other areas of the club and want to try something new, the club is in need of race chairs, people in registration, and starters.
We also are in need of event masters and safety stewards for both Solo II and RallyCross. One of the most important areas of the club that needs new people and new ideas is the Board of Directors. But, you may ask, what does a board member do? The best way to find out is too attend a few Board meetings. Despite what you have been told or think, they are not

held in secret. You are more than welcome to attend and your input would be welcome. With that said, what has the board been working on? We are still finalizing the details of this year's track rental, finalizing the budgets for all areas of the club and putting into place a method of controlling costs, accountability and trying to keep in the good graces of Denver. In addition we are busy trying to keep the membership that put us here happy.
Unfortunately with being so busy with day-to-day issues on the board and trying to keep a full time job (in most cases) sometimes things slip through the cracks, like that overdue thank you or the acknowledgement of years of dedicated work that seem to go unnoticed. But as a driver, I know that it would not be possible for me to race without the help and effort of all the workers. THANKS!!!!
As noted elsewhere here in The Tonneau, we still have the LOL hot line (612-885-6888). The Hotline is for the club's members to find out any last minute event information, but the only way to keep this information up to date is to leave a message on the voice mail or call Jimmy Griggs (Home: 612-824-2070) to have your event information put on the hotline.
NEW DRIVER LICENSING
Anyone needing a NEW competition license or a novice permit, please contact Dave Bowman at 612-882-6220 (days), 612-350-6620 (pager) or 612-888-3329 (home). The sooner you begin the process, the smoother it will be.
