Vintage View

by Bill Medcaff
President VSCR

November already - by the time you read this it will be almost Thanksgiving, so let me be the first to wish all of you a happy holiday season. By now most of us have parked the "car" and have stopped thinking about racing until after Christmas, reconnecting with our families and friends and the "rest of the world". Luckily there’s Speedvision for many of us to help us make it though the "off season". Speaking of the "off season", in the other club I belong to (Suburban Corvette), we have visited both Doug Rippie and Myron Cottrell’s shops this past year and have had a very enjoyable time. Is this something that would be of interest to our club ? If so give me a call.

Looking back at our 2000 season, we had a number of successes and few second place finishes. Successes included integrating newer vintage cars into our race group, as well opening our club to others and gaining new members through our test sessions at the Dakota County Vo Tec. These are strong first places that we can all be proud of. Special thanks to our Competition/Eligibility Board Members and to Billy G. for their leadership.

Most notable second place finishes include several open board positions that are beginning to hurt us - most notably an editor for our own publication, The Inside Track. Without an editor this year, we have had to rely on the Tonneau as our primary communications tool - a very good one, but still all our members are not Land O’Lakes region SCCA members, and do not receive this publication. So we really do need to fill this position for 2001 - it is time consuming, but if we could get a group together maybe we could lighten up the work load and make it "fun".

The remaining general membership meetings (November 15 and December 13) will be at Diversified Cryogenics Inc., 153 26th Avenue S.E., Minneapolis (1 block east of "Little Dearborn") off of University Avenue. Remaining board meeting have been cancelled, and will be conducted as part of the general membership meetings.

Upcoming elections - remember our December general membership meeting will be our annual elections night. Please consider running for the board this year - your club really needs you - it can’t work without you. Please contact any of the board members or myself if you would like to volunteer your services for the coming year - the year will pass very quickly and you’ll feel good about it.

Looks like we’re out of time for this session. See ya down the road.

Deadline for the December
Tonneau is November 14th.
Please submit your material at the LOL Board Meeting that night or send it to Lois Bjelke.
