The racing season is basically over in our neck of the woods unless you dig ice racing of course. I really should try that sometime, it looks like a hoot. Is 61 too old to ice race?
On the VSCR scene for year 2000 there is good news and bad news. Bad news is that our VP, Jeff Johnk, who would have been your President for 2000, has a conflict and cannot assume the Presidents role for the coming year. Anybody interested in filling the position please call me and we will accommodate you. Otherwise you and me may be stuck with me again.
The good news, assuming someone steps up to be the new Pres., is that there is only one more monthly article after this one to do for The Tonneau and the Inside Track, if Im lucky. The other good news is that we have confirmed 5 Saturday test days in 2000 at Dakota County in Rosemount: May 27th, June 17th, July 15th, August 12th, September 9th, and
possibly October 14th, depending on interest level. I had asked for the 5 second Saturdays but only got two. There will be 15 spots reserved for VSCR members and 15 guaranteed slots for those that put up $150 yet this year. We will only take 30 cars per test day, which should give everyone a 20 minute track session every hour except during lunch break. The 15 VSCR slots will be on a first come first served basis. Any specific day you reserve you will be charged $30 for. This system will cover the track rental and the insurance costs. Other good news: I heard from several competitors attending the Labor Day Race at BIR and got rave reviews. Seems everybody had a sterling time. We have been looking at space for a car storage, minor car care and vintage club house meeting place to do our BR and BS sessions. One was found in the Hwy. 280 & Energy Park Drive area and has storage/work space for 15 to 20 cars (without trailers). I am currently trying to find enough cars for winter storage to afford the space, which has a minimum 1 year commitment. By the time you get this, the decision will have been made to "go" or "no-go". If you are still looking for winter or all year round car storage, call Bill at 612-332-1235. I may still be looking to fill some spaces @ $50/mo. Nov through April or $ 35/mo. for 12 months commitment.
We will have a VSCR meeting November 18th., 6:30 PM at: Diversified Cryogenics Inc., 153 26th Ave SE. Mpls, MN 55414, ph 612-331-1235
Pop, beer and pizza provided by the Club. This will be for the nomination
of officers for 2000, to discuss the next season race venues, and the 1999 Banquet. If any person wishes to hold office in the VSCR, please submit your name to me and dont be bashful. You will be wonderful in that position. Trust Me!!!!!!!!!!
Any suggestions for a banquet site and a guest speaker please call me. A volunteer to set it all up would be appreciated as well.
You may already have been contacted by phone for your e-mail address. If it has changed or you just recently got one, please forward it to me, as I (or your new President) intend to send out short e-mails with club information when waiting for the next newsletter proves to be untimely. Send to:
