MEET THE CANDIDATES

MIKE ALLEN

Nothing submitted.

DOUG DILL

My name is Doug Dill and I have been a SCCA member for 17 years. I am running for the Board for a second term, because I want to see our region grow. Bringing in new members and keeping our existing membership is a goal we need to set our sights on. My son, Tyler, and I are running RallyCross and club rallies. I would like to see more local performance rallies, but I want to see road racing and Solo expand also. As a region of SCCA, we can’t be everything to all car nuts out there, but if we concentrate on our core areas, rallies, road racing and Solo, we will succeed in keeping LOL an interesting and active region. To do this the region needs more of our membership to step forward and take leadership roles. Thank you.

DEB DAHL

Hello....my name is Deb Dahl. As part of running for the LOL BoD, I’ve been instructed to submit a short bio. I won’t bore you with my life’s details, but would like to offer up my racing interests.

I consider myself an "honorary" LOL member since the age of 5 (thanks to my father). The nostalgic side of me still remembers the

days at BIR of Paul Newman, the Uncola National and so many people in attendance you had to wait in line to get through the "tunnel". Many years of race attendance followed with a five-year hiatus beginning in 1993. In 1998, my husband of nine years decided to try his hand at road racing (lucky me!!).

With the attitude of "if I can’t beat him, I might as well join him", my official SCCA/LOL membership was established in 1998. Road racing took on a whole new meaning, and a new appreciation for the preparation of a race car and race team was definitely had.

Just when I thought the "Dahl" racing adventures were mastered, Greg Youngdahl approached me with a request of taking on the responsibility of race chair for an event at BIR. I (reluctantly) agreed, thinking, "what could be so hard about it". WOW...that statement couldn’t have been more wrong! I certainly gained new insight on my organizational skills, and my family gained new insight on what it takes to host a road racing event. As a side note, event workers (corners, tech, safety, grid, etc.) in all venues should be held in the highest respect. If it weren’t for these people volunteering their time, drivers would not be participating in their favorite sport. The Fall 2000 Challenge was a moderate success, and once again I felt confident that my LOL experiences were fulfilled.

Well here I am, in the next phase

running for the board. It’s been an interesting journey and one that will not soon be forgotten. As you can tell, my main exposure to LOL is road racing. I would consider being on the LOL BoD, both a learning experience (about the different venues of the club) and an ideal opportunity to meet some great people and hopefully do some positive things for the club in the process. I believe that all venues are equally important to the club and will consider and support positive recommendations made by any club member. So gather some of that nostalgia of days past and suggest away.

TOM FUEHRER

My name is Tom Fuehrer, I have been an SCCA member for 3 years. I have been driving an American Sedan Camaro #0 for 2 years; before that I crewed for Ken Olson. I was an avid AutoX-er for a couple years before that. You have probably seen my wife Janine and me at club races, along with our twins.

I’ve always figured I’d eventually get involved with the organization of our club. The recent developments (or lack thereof) with CBIR have motivated me to get involved now. If you have monitored the LOL mailing list recently, you will know that Mike Allen and I are heading up the "grassroots" effort to provide a
