track. These are the items that have resulted in the cancellation of our two fall events at CBIR.
Having a track to race on is the foundation for the future of LOL. However, it should be obvious that the club has problems beyond the track. Even in the past three years I have noticed that the grids at our events are getting smaller and the shrinking pool of worker should worry all of us.
My future efforts with the club will include getting the word out about what we do. I’d love to see LOL have more (some) exposure to the local car enthusiast community. Prior to rekindling my interest in road-racing, most of my car-related interests were directed toward restoring muscle cars and building street rods. There is a huge pool of car-people in this area that don’t know LOL or SCCA exist. The incredible interest in modifying Imports has already spilled over into the AutoX scene. A growing trend with American cars is the Pro-Touring movement. Mustangs, Camaros even old Mavericks and Chevelles are outfitted with big rubber all-around, big brakes and modified suspensions. These guys have to be bored driving these cars to Porky’s on Saturday nights. Lets show them events were they can have fun with their cars.
We also need to show interested people the path from AutoX to HPCC to Open Track events to Road Racing. Not everybody that starts on this path will be a pro-
driver in 4 years. Most will reach a level that time and finances will allow. Some of these people will become crew members, some may become corner workers, many will bring friends into the club that have no interest in driving but can provide a needed function to the club. We are all in the club because we enjoy some aspect of it. There are others out there that will enjoy this club if they are given a chance to see it.
Thank You.

CHARLES KOONTZ
Hi my name is Chuck Koontz and I am one of the new candidates for the Board of Directors. I have been a SCCA member for four years working on the Grid. I have been a racing fan of one sort or another since I was kid. I got hooked on the SCCA after the First Mpls. Grand Prix. I went to my first BoD meeting in Sept. because of the problems our Club faces. Someone has said that LOL needs some new blood and more participation from its members at large, so I have put my name in the mix to answer that call.
Thank You for the opportunity to run for the LOL BoD.
Charles KoontzDAN MOORE Hello - Dan Moore here. For those of you that don’t know me personally, here is a little bit about myself and what I think I can bring to the SCCA in our area. I have been an SCCA member for 2 years now. I was drawn to the club because of ProRally. My team and I, sideways motorsports, built a car and have been running the ClubRallies around the area. We compete in a 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi that used to be both an IT and ice racing car here in the state. I have always had a love for fast cars and used to belong to the local Porsche club, owning 3 of them at one time. I think that because of my age (26) and of my new experiences in the club, I would be able to bring many new ideas and opinions to the board as we are discussing the future of SCCA sanctioned racing in this Region. I also think that I would be more approachable by our younger generation racers to bring up your ideas, questions and concerns to our fine group of leaders. Thank you. And good luck to all of the candidates. Dan Moore
